Alicia is an artist living with her little family in Kansas City. She is a muralist, a photographer and dabbles in fabric. With a degree in printmaking, she vows to print again someday too. While surrounded by the chaos of family life, Alicia tries hard to do each of these daily: live simply, respect nature and create something- even if it’s just a loaf of bread or a homemade pizza.

amy d was born and raised in new york city and as a child she dreamed of settling in the woods hundreds of miles from the nearest subway. life had other plans and has landed her in the suburbs exactly 40 miles northeast of her childhood home where she lives with her blended family: two dramatic boys, one architect husband and a few cats. her small house is messy and lively and filled with color. the dishes don't match and the laundry isn't folded but you'll usually find fresh cookies in the jar and hot coffee in the pot. she makes her living photographing children and spends her free time making quilts and she dreams of one day living by the ocean. she believes that blogging about the small beautiful moments amidst the chaos of daily life has helped let a light shine in where there used to be darkness.

San Francisco illustrator and fine artist Lisa Congdon was raised in both upstate New York and Northern California where she grew to love the trees and animals that surrounded her. That love is now expressed most intensely through her paintings and drawings. Lisa comes from a family of creative people and has been making things with her hands since she was a little girl, but she did not begin painting until she was 33 years old. Nine years later, it is now the most significant part of her life and livelihood. Lisa is a prolific collector of old and unusual things, including bits of nature, and surrounds herself with these things in her home and studio. She is currently chronicling all of her collections in her Collection A Day 2010 Project. That project will become a book, published in March 2011. She lives in the Mission District of San Francisco with her partner, Clay Lauren Walsh, her 10 pound chihuahua, Wilfredo, and her two cats, Barry and Margaret (named for Barry McGee and the late Margaret Kilgallen, two of her favorite artists). lisa m. lives on a vegetable farm in virginia with her husband, their young son, and a motley gaggle of homestead farm critters. they grow food for farmers markets and a large CSA. lisa's feelings about how to move through this world are still deeply informed by the years she spent doing family support work in new york city: by the resilience and dreams of the families she knows there, by the sheer density of human experience, by the grit and energy and beauty of every subway platform and food truck and park bench. a gardening project with families living in a shelter left her wondering if there might be some professional intersection between the work she was doing and growing stuff, so she planned a sabbatical to work on farms. she imagined a return to the city to work in school or community gardening, but her plans changed when she met a certain farmer. in 2008 they bought their own farm, and while she still misses the city somethin' fierce, at times, it's become increasingly impossible to imagine life anywhere else.

sarah s-d perches in her nest tucked in the giant redwoods of the santa cruz california mountains. She intentionally lives life with her mister & radiant three daughters. Much of her days are spent treading lightly among the fern laden forest or exploring, toes covered in sand, along the shore for a treasure of sea glass. Knitting, hiking, laundering, living, eyes wide to wonder, seeing the world through the lens of mother, child, lover, discoverer. Snug as a bug.

shanna believes in the limitless opportunity we all have to positively affect one another's lives. her favorite moments are the small ones; the right song playing on the radio, a perfect cup of tea, walks along the creek with her dog, small kindnesses from strangers, and slow sunday mornings.

shanna lives in western ny with a dry stone waller (who also happens to be the love of her life) and their little dog ollie. her days are filled with a menagerie of creative pursuits which taken all together somehow manage to pay the bills - for this she is especially grateful.

shauna likes the blue sky outside her window right now, since she knows it will probably be clouds in a few moments. she loves chasing her daughter lucy and hearing her giggle, standing at the kitchen counter about to start cooking, and hanging out on the couch with her husband danny, watching jon stewart at the end of a good, hard, productive day. she loves taking photographs, even though she really doesn't know what she's doing. she wishes she had more time and money for film. she always wishes she had a new dslr, even though she's sort of obsessed with her new/old polaroid too. clearly, shauna is a little confused.

steph lives in a little red brick house with her husband, three kayaks and more cameras than any one person should own. she works as a writer and a photographer, and thinks peanut butter, loud music, traveling, back yard BBQ's, polaroid and pizza make life worth living. she's embarrassed to admit that it took her 32 years to like strawberries.

stephanie cb is an artist who spends her days sewing tiny things out of wool and linen, making messes in the kitchen, exploring the woods with her family, and capturing it all with her camera. she lives with her husband, two children, and a three-legged cat in portland, oregon. she spent a few years taking photos of her daily life, so this is a bit like putting on an old hat. the having something to say is a brand new hat, though.
